Make Impact on your Path
"And so I woke early in the morning
To go on a quest for my future
The journey ahead is a rigorous one
Though I don't know my exact destination
I only have a glimpse of the pathway
So I can't afford to take any chance
I must be focused to make it to target
Having prepared the previous night
For this special moment of my life
I put my house in order to avoid distraction
I settled all matters at hand
Just to keep my focus on the target
The first cock crow, I set out on my journey
Walking and running at the same time
Though I used to greet passersby before
But this is a special journey
A time used in greeting is a time wasted
But then the unexpected happened
I met a lonely old woman on my way
Rapped in her tattered cloth of ages
Struggling with a log of firewood
As much as she tried to lift it on her head
The more the stubborn firewood stay apart
Though I saw all this from afar
I never gave it a second thought
Because my destiny awaits me
I rubbed the picture off my mind
And pretended as if it was nothing
Then to my greatest dismay
The old woman beckoned on me
To help raise the log on her head
I was dawned with reality
This woman needs my help
Out of an iota of annoyance
I lifted the log on my head
And endeared the old woman to lead
Slow and steady she walks to her house
Finally I'm free of this bondage
With rapid speed, I dropped the log
And bid the old woman farewell
Hurriedly I moved, faster than I was earlier
To answer the calling of future
Who by this time, to me is almost late
I could not help but to be surprised
As I met my future at the backyard
The backyard of the old woman
Smiling at my arrival from afar
It seems a dream but its a reality
Then, I remembered those days
When my mother told me
Make an impact on your path
You will achieve your dream
By helping others with their own
A life of no impact, is a life of no value "
