Success Pill III: Have Mentors

A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself.” — Oprah Winfrey

My mentor said, ‘Let’s go do it,’ not ‘You go do it.’ How powerful when someone says, ‘Let’s!’” — Jim Rohn

"One good thing I personally enjoy about mentorship is having someone as a lens through which you can see your future" -- Adegboyega Emmanuel

“Colleagues are a wonderful thing – but mentors, that’s where the real work gets done.” — Junot Diaz

One of the greatest values of mentors is the ability to see ahead what others cannot see and to help them navigate a course to their destination.” — John C. Maxwell

“Our chief want in life is somebody who will make us do what we can.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

Immediately I started having a feeling I have passion for writing and talking especially in the aspect of leadership and relationship exactly a year and two months now, I became so radical in reading books and listening to great speakers.

I was so obsessed with the need to gather a "body of knowledge" that my colleagues in the University usually see me as a restless person because I don't miss self development events within and outside the campus except during practical classes, C.As & examinations, exempt any of this three, I'm gone.

It was from this knowledge hunt and ultimate search that I started making "a list of my mentors". I scriblled out every channel of communication through which I can always keep abreast of their "shared life" and started gleaning from them.

When I ask people why didn't they  have a mentor? The excuse that keeps flowing is "nobody is ready to mentor me". That's an error, think about it mentorship can be passive or active.

Passive in the sense that, it is quite possible to be mentored by someone you never met before but you admire so much maybe through their books or whatever point of contact you had with them, the best way to be mentored by those group of people is passively, social media has made this possible; add them up on social media platforms and be drinking from the well of their knowledge.

Chances abound these people have inner circus mentorship program you can sign up for through email, how would you know if you sit in the corner of your room and expect such rather it's been keeping a close watch on them, it was through social media I was able to sign up for ; Dr. Sam Adeyemi, Bill & Melinda Gate, Fela Durotoye, Ubong King and some others mentorship program without leaving my room.

Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo is one out of other Relationship coach I followed with keen interest on Instagram so you don't have excuse.

Active mentorship is that the person is physically available to mentor you and I beg you to please hold on to that mentor if you are lucky to find one because they are rare, the truth is that everyone is growing, so if someone can make time for you, they deserve regards from you.

I'm presently working on project and I must confess to you till now since April, I have not lifted a finger, all I do is inform my mentors, they are the one working assidously on my behalf when the job is 90%, they will hand over to me, give me the proper guide and resources to achieve the 10% but I'll be the one to have the results I didn't work for. That's how wonderful mentors can be.

Unlike books, mentors are humans like you so you can ask them questions, trouble them with your growth and they wouldn't complain, mentors want to see you grow and that's why they would always guide you through from their wealth of experience and knowledge.

But don't forget, only a doctor can train another doctor, a barrister can not. Choose the right mentors for every sphere of your life but generally everyone needs a Spiritual mentor after which you can now have as many as possible based on your unique success mindset but don't choose unwisely.

Need I remind you "Success is costly, only those who knows the price and pays, achieve it.
